I create carvings by first creating patterns that can be carved using a CNC and hand chisels. I do not paint the plaques, other than the lettering, mostly. Each plaque has unique wood grains, no two ever being exactly the same, sort of like finger prints. Stains and clear coat finishes are applied to show the grain and to preserve the plaque. New types of projects will be considered when they are requested.

Great Lakes Wood Arts is a Veteran owned business.  Each item is made in the United States, from locally harvested lumber when possible, and utilizing as many tools and other supplies that I can obtain that are also made in the USA. We live in a global economy, so some things must come from outside of the USA.

Take a look at some of the examples of previous projects that have been done at the Facebook page Photos section. The Facebook link is at the top right of this page. Ask me if you have any questions as I will be happy to discuss your project and ideas. Thank you for visiting my website.
